Ekphrastic poem

Inspired by “Spatial Form” Anthea Alley.

Swiftly flitting silver swimmers

Not their own element

Movement captured

Immobile in metal, jagged and jarring

School stationery

Solid and still

Bound by the space between

Circles and squares

No adhesive

Quicksilver fluidity, turning synchronicity

Freeze frame.

Mandy Ross – August 2019
